Atlantic Coast Joint Venture Vision:

Partners working together for the conservation of native bird species in the Atlantic Flyway
region of the United States

Mission

The Atlantic Coast Joint Venture will provide a forum for federal, state, regionalHumacao Wildlife Refuge, Southeast Puerto Rico and local partners to coordinate and improve the effectiveness of bird conservation planning and implementation in the Atlantic Flyway region of the United States.

Meeting Tasks/Outcomes:

  • Coordination of ACJV efforts with State Wildlife Action Plans

  • Review of Bird Conservation Region planning efforts including review of New England Mid Atlantic plan and approval of the Lower Great Lakes St. Lawrence Bird Conservation Plan

  • Review and Discussion of ACJV Biological Foundation Draft Plan

  • Presentations by IBCC representatives on IBCC approach and highest Initiative/BCR priorities

  • Review of NAWCA and other grant program projects and issues

  • Presentation and review of annual accomplishment report

  • Presentations on Bird Habitat Conservation in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean

  • Field trips demonstrating Puerto Rico’s approach to bird habitat conservation

Meeting Schedule

Monday, February 12: MB and IBCC travel to San Juan, afternoon meeting of IBCC, evening reception

Tuesday, February 13: Joint meeting of Management Board and IBCC through mid afternoon; field trip and dinner with Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources to Humacao Wildlife Refuge

Wednesday, February 14: Morning Management Board meeting, afternoon travel home or optional travel to Northeast Puerto Rico, field trips or travel home
